These verses prescribe the Old Testament sacrifice. We, as Resurrection people, don’t need to follow this prescription because the ultimate sacrifice was made on the cross.

Here Jesus gives testimony to who He knows He Is. Jesus lets us know that we who are saved by His grace have the right to the Kingdom of Heaven and will enter the gates. The reading ends with our response to the invitation…all we have to do is come.

When I feel unsure of myself or my God-given talents, I turn to Him for reassurance. He gives me confidence in what I can do and shows me what needs to be done.

When the Lord speaks through His prophet, Elisha, whatever He says will come to pass. Here the people of God overtake the land of Moab. Even though the land is dry, it becomes flooded. God will flood our dry places with His love and mercy, if we just listen for His voice.

Seek the Lord’s counsel. Allow His words to nourish you as rain nourishes the Earth. Follow the ways He has set for us!

Although we have freedom in Christ, we are still humans. Human beings all have weaknesses, things that hinder our spirits from being close to our Lord, yet each one has different weaknesses. St. Paul says that wages for work are obligatory whereas the person who lives by faith is credited with righteousness which is a gift. Through Jesus’ sacrifice our sins are not only forgiven but will no longer be counted against us…Hallelujah!
